Gay Married Men's Association organized January 10, 1978 with a meeting of 35 men in Bethesda. The group grew out of the ashes of the Cinema Follies fire on October 24, 1977, which claimed the lives of a number of married men. Adventuring is the outdoor club for the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgendered community in the Washington DC area.
